"I want to restart talks very quickly," said Paris's new mayor Emmanuel Grégoire regarding a potential sale of the Parc des Princes to PSG.
"I will put the matter before the Council of Paris at the exceptional mid-April session," he said. "We have a huge emotional attachment to our club, we want it to stay in Paris, so we must bring together the conditions for it to stay. That is why, personally, I am in favour of a sale," he told Franceinfo.
"Public money should not pay for a professional football stadium," Grégoire said. "We can spend that money in more useful places. All the proceeds from any sale of the Parc des Princes would be allocated to creating new sporting facilities, maintaining the current ones, and developing green spaces."
The process is being revived following his election as mayor, after years in which the issue strained relations under his predecessor Anne Hidalgo.
"Our objective, agreed with the PSG shareholder, is to close the discussions by the end of the summer at the latest."
