Lyon and Real Madrid have agreed a six-month loan for Endrick, who will join Paulo Fonseca’s side from 1 January to play as centre-forward.

According to L'Équipe, the Brazil international, 19, chose OL because the starting No 9 role was vacant, offering maximum minutes in Ligue 1 and the Europa League after limited action with Real under Xabi Alonso. He has 14 caps and 3 goals.

Endrick was sold by Palmeiras to Real in December 2022 for nearly €60m when he was 16, and arrived in Europe in July 2024. It is the second biggest transfer in Brazilian football history behind Neymar, and he is regarded as an elite centre-forward prospect.

OL have been searching for a first-choice No 9 since selling Georges Mikautadze. They ended the summer window with only Martin Satriano on loan from Lens, initially recruited as back-up, leaving him the sole centre-forward on 1 September. Club figures argued they had avoided a panic buy to keep room for January.

Quick, stocky at 1.73m and powerful, with a fierce left foot and relentless pressing, Endrick fits Fonseca’s system. His priority is to deliver six strong months to earn a call from Carlo Ancelotti for the 2026 World Cup with the Seleçao.

Real have relaxed their financial stance and given approval, with OL to cover half of his wages, estimated at more than €400,000 gross per month. This will be settled via a fee of around €1m to Real, and there is no purchase option. Paperwork is expected to be completed in the coming hours, and he is due in Lyon from 29 December to train, probably indoors, as the squad returns.
