Endrick (19) was sent off during Olympique Lyonnais’ slender 1-0 win over FC Nantes over the weekend. The Real Madrid loanee, already on a yellow card, was initially shown a second yellow and was therefore sent off.
But VAR would intervene. The decision to send off the Brazilian would stand, as VAR cannot act on yellow card offences, but his second yellow was upgraded to a red upon review. That would have entailed a minimum ban of two games for Endrick, who is already sure to miss Sunday’s game at home against OGC Nice.
But ahead of that game, Lyon have received a boost. They will be without the centre-forward against Le Gym, but the straight red card has been rescinded. As a result, the Brazilian was sent off for two yellow cards and so the ban is for just one game.
It means that Endrick will be able to face RC Strasbourg Alsace the following week.
