England drawn against Spain in 2027 World Cup qualifying groups

European champions England have been drawn against World Cup winners Spain in the 2027 World Cup qualification group stage.
The Lionesses have been placed in Group A3 alongside Spain, Iceland, and Ukraine knowing they are likely to advance to the play-offs but may be in direct competition with the Spanish for first place and automatic qualification.
Of the other UK sides, Wales are in Group B1 with Czech Republic, Albania, and Montenegro. Northern Ireland will compete with Switzerland, Turkey, and Malta in GroupB2. Then in Group B4, Scotland have drawn alongside Belgium, Israel, and Luxembourg.
Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland have a difficult group after having been drawn in Group A2 which includes France, Netherlands, and Poland.
Qualification games will begin in February 2026 with the 2027 World Cup to be played in Brazil from June until July.
