The Lionesses are heading out to Switzerland this summer to defend their title at Euro 2025, but where are the England players from the Euro 2022 winning team now?
Mary Earps was one of the shining stars for England at Euro 2022 and after playing every minute in the campaign, conceding just two goals, she earned a spot in the official team of the tournament.
England’s former number one won’t be playing this summer though as she announced her retirement from international football just five weeks before Euro 2025 kicks off.
Earps wasn’t the only one to announce her departure from the international stage, as Fran Kirby also called time on her England career only days before Sarina Wiegman announced the squad.
Kirby is currently still playing in the WSL for Brighton but after over a decade of international football she decided to leave England, with 19 goals from 77 caps.
Millie Bright is another England star from Euro 2022 who won’t be jetting off to Switzerland, after the Chelsea defender made the tough decision to pull out of the team with her mental health in mind. After withdrawing from the tournament, Bright then revealed that she underwent minor surgery.
Bright will be a huge miss to the England team not just on the pitch, but behind the scenes too, having accumulated 88 caps for the Lionesses since making her debut in 2016.
Another starter from the Euro 2022 Final against Germany who will be cheering on from the sideline is Rachel Daly, who announced her retirement from internationals in April.
Daly featured as a forward and a defender for the Lionesses throughout her career but she was prioritised as the starting left-back for every game at the 2022 tournament.
England’s all-time top goalscorer, Ellen White, decided to end her career on a high when retiring immediately after the Euro 2022 glory. White leads the Lionesses goalscoring charts with 52 goals.
One of the most popular names to come out of the home Euros win three years ago was Jill Scott, who joined White in retiring on a high note following the win, with the midfielder turning to punditry and commentary.
The core of England’s Euro 2022 winning team is still very much in tact and there are plenty of superstars heading to Switzerland looking to make it two European Championships in a row.
Joining Mary Earps in the 2022 team of the tournament was Leah Williamson, Keira Walsh and Beth Mead, who are all expected to start for England this summer.
Lionesses and Arsenal captain, Leah Williamson, remains irreplaceable for England under Sarina Wiegman and only injury troubles have kept her out of the team.
Beth Mead is another Arsenal player who has consistently performed for her country and after taking home the title of top goalscorer, most assists and player of the tournament in 2022, the 30-year-old’s career has continued to blossom for both club and country.
Keira Walsh is the final England player from the team of the tournament to make a return this summer and after scoring her first international goal in April after 83 appearances, the Chelsea midfielder will be brimming with confidence coming into 2025.
Having made her debut for the Lionesses way back in 2013, Lucy Bronze is now one of the veterans of the England dressing room and the Chelsea defender is showing no signs of slowing down.
Despite still playing the highest level at 33-years-old, Bronze could be slowly winding down her career on the international stage and it wouldn’t be a shock if this summer’s Euros was her last major tournament for the Lionesses should it go well.
The final two starters from England’s 2022 Euros Final were Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp. A move away from England paid off for Stanway, who retained her spot in Wiegman’s midfield after moving to Bayern Munich.
Hemp is also still a regular feature in the England team and with Lauren James not fully fit, the Manchester City winger could deputise this summer.
