England are currently top of the pile when it comes to the number of different goalscorers in this season’s Champions League.

Ten English players have found the net so far, more than any other nation. The nearest challengers are Brazil, France, Germany and Portugal, each with seven players on the scoresheet.

That total of ten was boosted last night when Harvey Barnes, Eric Dier, Carney Chukwuemeka and Bukayo Saka all struck their first goals of the campaign.

Barnes came off the bench in Belgium to round off Newcastle’s 4-0 win over Union St. Gilloise, while Chukwuemeka opened his Champions League account for Dortmund with a tidy finish in their 4-1 victory against Athletic Bilbao.

In Monaco, Dier showed composure to slot home a last-minute penalty and snatch a 2–2 draw against Manchester City, and in north London Saka sealed Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Olympiacos with a late strike that squeezed through the legs of goalkeeper Tzolakis.

Joining them on the list are Harry Kane, Anthony Gordon, Marcus Rashford, Cole Palmer, Lloyd Kelly and Mason Greenwood, completing the ten English scorers so far this season.

Interestingly, only four of the ten are actually playing for English clubs in the Champions League, highlighting a growing trend of English players making their mark abroad.
