Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been left out of England’s 26-man World Cup squad, with Thomas Tuchel naming Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney as his three strikers.

“It was a great feeling [being back in the March camp], and the World Cup is also a dream for any young English kid, to play for England or represent England at a World Cup, and I'm no different. The manager makes the decisions and picks the team, so I'm well aware that all I can do is keep doing what I’m doing, scoring goals and whatever happens, happens.” He said on the Official Leeds United podcast.

He ended a five-year wait for international football in March, playing just over half an hour against Uruguay before a planned return to Thorp Arch ahead of Japan.

He struck his 14th Premier League goal in last weekend’s 1-0 win at Brighton, making him joint-top English scorer in the division. He is level with Watkins and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who is also not selected.

Toney has not featured in a Tuchel England set-up for almost 12 months, his last appearance coming in a June friendly against Senegal last year. He has 32 goals in 32 Saudi Pro League matches this season.

Former Elland Road loanee Djed Spence has been included and will be involved at the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Leeds teammates Gabriel Gudmundsson, Ao Tanaka and Noah Okafor have also earned call-ups, while Anton Stach missed out on Germany selection.
