Lionesses’ head coach Sarina Wiegman says forward Michelle Agyemang is “excited” to have been called up to the England senior squad for the first time.

Tottenham forward Jessica Naz has also been brought into the squad to replace injured trio Lauren James, Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly, who have left the England camp ahead of their second game against Belgium.

“Jess Naz came in and Michelle came in and of course Jess has been in our environment and of course she knows, so that’s nice,” Wiegman said. “She trained well.

“And for Michelle it’s the first time [she’s been in the England senior squad]. She was at St George’s park before of course because they qualified for the Euros with the U19s. She’s very excited and she showed up straight away in the training session today.”

Wiegman hopes that the injuries to her star players James, Kelly and Russo will not have them out for long.

“LJ picked up a hamstring injury so she will be assessed at her club but of course not available for Tuesday, and the same with Alessia so she had to go back to her club too and she’ll be assessed there and hopefully they’ll be back soon,” she said.

England will face Belgium tomorrow night at Den Dreef Stadium, where they will be hoping to increase their lead at the top of their Nations League group after their 5-0 win against them on Friday.

Although England won comfortably on Friday evening, the England boss believes that Tuesday’s game will be a tougher test for her side.

“Tomorrow’s going to be different, I think the players will be back, also here the crowd is loud in Belgium,” she said.

“They’re going to try to be physical, really compact. I’m expecting them to press a little bit higher but also maybe drop a bit deeper, basically we expect everything, but if we are at our best we will play okay.”

Despite the injuries and the Belgian crowd, the Dutch manager believes that the rest of the squad is ready.

“Everyone is out and [today’s training] went well and everyone is ready to go tomorrow.”
