England’s Euro 2025 semi-final win over Italy draws highest ITV viewing figures of the year

The Euro 2025 semi-final clash between England and Italy drew the highest viewing figures for ITV this year.
England repeated their heroics from the quarter-final against Sweden, as they came from behind to secure a dramatic victory over Italy. booking their spot in Sunday’s final.
Michelle Agyemang scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time to send the game into extra time, before Chloe Kelly converted a penalty rebound just one minute before the game was due to go to penalties.
A peak audience of 10.2 million tuned in to watch England’s Euro 2025 semi-final victory over Italy.
The Guardian reported that this is the highest viewing figures of the year for broadcaster ITV One.
They added that the peak viewership was at the time when Chloe Kelly converted her 119th-minute penalty to send England through to the final.
An average of eight million viewers watched the game across the entirety of the 120 minutes.
ITV X also had its biggest day of the year with 17.2m stream views for England vs Italy.
These numbers show just how much the women’s game is improving in popularity and stature.
England’s Euro 2022 semi-final win over Sweden was watched by a peak audience of 9.3 million – nearly one million less than the Euro 2025 semi-final.
Support for England has grown throughout the tournament. Their opening game with France on ITV drew in a peak of 2.6 million viewers, while the Group D finale against Wales on BBC attracted a peak of 4.6 million.
England’s victory over Wales also drew more viewers than the men’s Club World Cup final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
This is despite both games being shown at the same time on free-to-air television.
A 7.3 million peak audience tuned in to watch England’s stunning quarter-final win over Sweden on the BBC.
Viewing figures went up again for England vs Italy at Euro 2025 to a peak 10.3 million on ITV One and 17.2 million on ITV X.
The most-viewed game ever in the United Kingdom was the 2023 World Cup final.
Figures peaked at 14.8 million in the closing minutes of England’s 1-0 defeat to Spain.
There is a good chance that the Women’s Euro 2025 final could beat those figures.
