According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Enrique Riquelme’s Real Madrid presidential bid has set out a plan in which Raúl González Blanco would take full control of football operations for the next 10 years, with Jürgen Klopp the priority for head coach if he wins Sunday’s election.
The project seeks a radical shift in decision-making, handing responsibility to a figure with deep club legitimacy. Raúl would come in as sporting director, the player who has represented the club most often.
His roadmap targets a robust structure with the academy as a central pillar. Football professionals would retain exclusive control of technical decisions to safeguard independence.
For the dugout, Raúl has tabled one firm proposal, the appointment of Jürgen Klopp. The German won the Champions League with Liverpool and disrupted wealthier rivals with Borussia Dortmund.
While Klopp has said he does not intend to coach in the short term, the camp believes the scale and history of Real Madrid could persuade him. The aim is to restore intensity, daily standards and meritocracy in the dressing room.
The plan’s fate rests with members at Sunday’s vote. If successful, the group says it would move immediately and transparently.
Raúl would call Klopp on Monday 8 June to present the project formally, if victorious.
