Enzo Maresca believes the trip to Lincoln is a potential banana skin for Chelsea and insists that cup ties against lower-league opposition are the “games that worry me most”.

The Blues have endured a difficult week, following up their 2-2 draw with Brentford by losing away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and at Manchester United in the Premier League.

In what is their fourth away match in a row, Chelsea visit Sincil Bank on Tuesday night to take on third-tier high-fliers Lincoln in the Carabao Cup third round.

The Imps currently sit third in League One under Michael Skubala and have won four of their last six matches across all competitions.

“These are the games that worry me most, because you can slip very easily,” Maresca said at his pre-match press conference on Monday.

“Football is full of these kind of games and I am very worried about that.”

Chelsea have five certain injury absentees, while Cole Palmer is a doubt after being substituted early on at Old Trafford due to his lingering groin issue. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off against United and is suspended.

Maresca was asked whether any academy players will be named in the matchday squad at Lincoln, and whether they can expect to be handed game time.

“For sure, we [will] have probably a few players from the academy, like we always have done,” he said.

The likes of Genesis Antwi and Reggie Walsh could both be involved for Chelsea.
