Enzo Maresca has said Chelsea don’t need to sign another centre back this month, despite injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea weren’t expected to be busy in January in terms of incomings, but injuries to both Badiashile and Fofana has seemingly changed the club’s plans.
Whilst the main priority is outgoings with the Blues looking to move on the likes of Ben Chilwell, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka, it looks like a new centre back could arrive.
The Blues have already recalled Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Boca Juniors, but the 19-year-old isn’t ready to feature for the first team at this point.
There are a number of options open to Chelsea and recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace is one of the options on the table.

Chelsea also hold an interest in Palace Captain and former academy graduate Marc Guehi, and are exploring a move for the 24-year-old, although a deal this month is not thought to be easy.
If any centre back is going to come in then one of the current crop needs to be moved on, with Axel Disasi the most likely, and he’s attracting interest from Juventus.
However, speaking ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Morecambe, Maresca has said he feels Chelsea are actually ok at centre back at this moment in time.
“At this moment I think we’re OK [at centre-back],” he told The Evening Standard.

“If [Fofana] can come back early we will all be happy. [But] we have Benoit who is close to being back, we have Josh who is doing well, Axel and Levi who can all do well.”
A lot of fans are unlikely to agree with Maresca and the return dates of both Fofana and Badiashile are still unclear, whilst trusting Acheampong with Champions League football at stake is a big gamble, but only time will tell what Chelsea decide to do.
