“It’s another big game,” the manager said.
“We finished the Barcelona one and we won, it’s a good feeling. If it’s bigger than the last one, I don’t know. For me, they are all important games. For sure, beating Barcelona and if we are able to beat Arsenal, it’s a nice feeling, it’s three points.”
Barcelona are a really good team with really good players, but there’s a sense that they’re a good matchup for Chelsea. They leave a lot of space in behind, and don’t really have the physicality at set pieces that Premier League teams do now. We were really able to bully them at times, then the red card they picked up made it even easier to pick them off.
Arsenal will be the opposite. They’re the most physical team in world football right now, and will turn those tables on us. While the confidence we’re picking up will help us in any game, this will almost be a different sport we play on Sunday.
The manager is going to have to tweak his lineup and his game plan to make sure he gets the most out of this game.
Maresca was asked about the battle between Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice on Sunday, but refused to admit it would likely define the shape of the game.
Cole Palmer is back for this game and could even start, according to Enzo Maresca who today announced his star man is ready to go.
