Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca faces intense scrutiny after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, according to the Telegraph.

The Blues conceded twice from two long throws in a chaotic opening 27 minutes. Despite dominating the second half, they failed to create enough clear-cut chances to force a winner.

During the game, Stadium Bridge crackled with discontent as loud boos greeted Maresca’s decision to withdraw Cole Palmer.

Tensions have extended beyond the pitch. Earlier this month, the Italian launched what appeared to be a dig at the Chelsea hierarchy.

“The last 48 hours have been the worst since I joined the club because many people didn’t support me and the team,” he said.

Maresca led his side to the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup titles last season. However, his second campaign has not gone as planned.

He has been linked with a return to Manchester City but has since reiterated his commitment to Chelsea.

Given the current circumstances, a departure from London is not as far-fetched as it once seemed.

Tuesday’s draw leaves Chelsea with just one win from their last seven Premier League outings and continues a worrying trend of dropping points from winning positions – 15, the most in the league.

The Blues are fifth in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal, ending any realistic title hopes.

They could be five points off the top four if Liverpool beat Leeds United on New Year’s Day.

Looking forward, Maresca will seek to get Chelsea back on track in their opening assignment of 2026 against title-chasing Manchester City.

A defeat at the Etihad Stadium could end Maresca’s tenure.
