PSG face Barcelona on October 1 in the UEFA Champions League group stage, with both clubs carrying strong momentum into the clash.

The French champions opened their campaign in dominant fashion, cruising to a 4-0 win over Atalanta by scoring twice in each half despite being without Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé.

Barcelona responded with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Newcastle United, thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford. Nonetheless, both teams are the favorites in this competition, and a strong showing in this game would go a long way in establishing that they will win the Champions League this season.

Although the contest is a few days away, players are already getting asked about it. Eric Garcia is the latest on the Barcelona side talk about the marquee matchup of Matchday 2.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Garcia said. “I think last year we were all left with a bit of a regret that, if we had beaten Inter, we would have played PSG in the final. A match that, in my opinion, pitted the two teams that played the best football against each other. We’re looking forward to it, obviously.”

Le Parisien reports that Bradley Barcola and João Neves are set to make the trip to Barcelona and could see minutes against Auxerre.

The outlet also notes that Désiré Doué is making steady progress. He has resumed running on a specialized machine, raising hopes he might be available on the bench at Montjuïc next week.

In Spain, SPORT’s Carlos Monfort shared that Lamine Yamal is back training with the ball. His recovery is moving in the right direction, and Barcelona’s staff believe he has a chance to play in the upcoming match against Real Sociedad.

Still, the main objective is to have him fully fit for the showdown with PSG. Yamal has been dealing with a groin injury, and manager Hansi Flick recently gave an update on his recovery.
