Teenager was ruled out of World Cup with a torn hamstring

The winger, who has starred for the Blues this season in his debut campaign in English football, tore his hamstring against Manchester United back in April and has not been able to play since.

The forward, 19, was overlooked by Carlo Ancelotti for the Selecao’s squad for this summer’s tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Neymar was selected as one of Brazil’s forwards, although the veteran’s participation in his country’s opening matches is in question after he himself suffered a calf injury.

Ancelotti’s men will play Morocco, Scotland and Haiti in their group games later this month, but they will be without the young Chelsea star.

Estevao, pictured speaking at a gospel church back in Brazil, revealed that he no longer felt pain in his hamstring and that he believes he is ready to play again.

"I had an injury where I tore 80 per cent of my hamstring bicep femoris,” he explained.

“The Chelsea doctors wanted me to have surgery and even the Chelsea owner said he wanted me to have surgery.

“Two weeks ago, I had a second MRI scan, and the doctor asked if I was in pain or feeling anything.

“I said: 'No, doctor, I'm fine, I think I could even play already.'

“He said: 'Yeah, it really shows.' He showed me the exam image and said he couldn't see any more of the injury.

“He said he doesn't know what happened, because in the timeframe we're in, it shouldn't be that well-structured like it is."

Estevao was unable to feature for interim head coach Calum McFarlane, who took over after Liam Rosenior was sacked.

The young Brazilian did not play in the FA Cup final, which Chelsea lost to Manchester City, and he also could not help his side qualify for Europe, as the west Londoners missed out entirely on a place in continental competition next term.
