Atletico Madrid have moved ahead of Manchester United in pursuit of Atalanta star Ederson.
The 26-year-old has been a key first-team player since joining Atalanta in 2022.
He has made 176 appearances across all competitions, with 15 goals and five assists to his name.
Ederson missed the opening three league matches of the 2025-26 season due to injury, but has since been starting regularly.
United and Arsenal have been tracking the Brazilian’s situation in Bergamo, but Atletico have moved ahead of them in the transfer race.
According to Ben Jacobs, the Spanish club have already agreed terms with Ederson.
The midfielder has just over a year left on his current contract, so he could be signed for a knockdown price.
United are looking to sign two midfielders in the upcoming transfer window, with Casemiro set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
The Red Devils prioritise a move for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, but the England international wants to join rivals Manchester City.
United have also been linked with Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton and most recently Aurelien Tchouameni.
But a move for any of the three is expected to cost them a significant fee.
Ederson would represent a cheaper option, who has proven his skills at the top level.
The Brazil international is still young and is known for his physical strength, work-rate and technical proficiency.
