Leeds United expect to confirm free agent Harry Wilson as their first signing. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, a deal was agreed a week ago, with no suggestion of late hitches.
Wilson will join Daniel Farke’s 2026/27 squad as Leeds push to add more. Talks have been held with free agent Julian Brandt and bids worth over £20m for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles have been rejected, while last summer’s recruitment skewed older with the youngest arrival then 25-year-old Noah Okafor.
The Athletic reports that Everton are targeting former Leeds loanee Djed Spence, with Seamus Coleman departing. Spence’s 2023 Leeds loan ended early after seven outings, but the 25-year-old has revived his form at Tottenham and featured in England’s 3-2 World Cup last-16 win over Mexico at the Azteca. Arsenal’s Ben White, another ex-Leeds loanee, is also admired on Merseyside.
Sky Sports says Ipswich Town are close to signing Toulouse striker Emersonn for about €31 million, £26.6m, including add-ons, with a medical planned. Hull City were also keen but are set to miss out, and the 21-year-old posted six goals and two assists in 27 Ligue 1 games.
BBC Sport reports that Callum Wilson, 34, is in advanced talks to join Brentford on a 12-month deal after leaving West Ham, having scored seven in 32 last season. He would compete with Igor Thiago, while former Leeds loanee Jaidon Anthony is due to join after a £20m agreement with Burnley, and Keith Andrews’ side visit Elland Road on Saturday 29 August.
