Everton have turned to Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, looking to bolster their attack this summer.
Per the Times, after missing out on Francesco Trincao, Johan Bakayoko and struggling to clinch a deal for Takefusa Kubo, the Toffees are showing interest in Dibling.
The teenager caught the eye last season, impressing for the Saints despite their relegation to the Championship.
He showed glimpses of his ability, prompting many to believe he will return to the top flight.
Sky Sports wrote of Dibling: “The teenager looks absolutely fearless on the ball and is capable of moments of magic.”
Dibling bagged four goals and three assists in 38 appearances. Also, he has so much room for growth that several clubs are willing to take the punt on him.
RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur were keen on his services, but Everton have now entered the race.
However, his price tag could prove a stumbling block for Everton. The Saints quoted suitors £55 million even though many felt they would drop that demand upon relegation.
Everton spent big on Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, and Mark Travers, but there are still holes to plug in the midfield and attack.
The left-back position could also use reinforcement, with Bayern Munich ace Adam Aznou of interest to Merseyside club. The Toffees cannot spend it all recruiting Dibling.
With Southampton demanding a high figure for Dibling, Everton should consider a move for Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa (View).
Bakwa is cheaper, more robust physically, and ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. He also produces better numbers.
Besides, Bakwa can shift into midfield and has covered at wing-back due to his ability to get up and down the right flank.
Bakwa bagged six goals and eight assists to help Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League and will be a stellar pick-up for Everton if Dibling proves too expensive.
