Everton want to sign KRC Genk attacker Zakaria El Ouahdi and have made enquiries, according to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Everton manager David Moyes could do with reinforcements at the Hill Dickinson Stadium club, and the Toffees want the Belgium-born Morocco international.

El Ouahdi wants to leave Belgium for the Premier League, but he prefers to join Crystal Palace, with the Eagles in contact with his representatives.

Genk want €12 million for the services of the 23-year-old, and it is a fee Everton can comfortably pay, but they are behind Palace in the race to sign him.

El Ouahdi wants a club pushing for Europe, and the fifth-place Eagles have been impressive this term, with ten points between them and leaders Arsenal.

The Toffees are ninth in the table after 16 games, two points off the last Champions League spot.

However, Everton have fought relegation in each of the last four seasons and the Genk star is unconvinced about joining them.

They will have to look elsewhere for attacking additions during the winter transfer window, and they could secure a berth in one of the European competitions next season if they finish the season strongly.

Everton will need their players to step up as they could do with being consistent heading into the second half of the campaign.

While El Ouahdi is primarily a right winger, he also plays at right-back, which is a position Moyes wants to improve his squad depth in as Irish centre-back Jake O’Brien has had to feature there this term.

Signing such a versatile player with quality attacking and defensive attributes would have been huge for the Blues, but he is not interested in joining them.

Moyes will hope to add some top players to his squad in the winter as that could make all the difference in his dream to take his side to Europe next term.
