Having already completed their top-priority operation of signing the goalkeeper Joan Garcia, FC Barcelona are now working to strengthen their forward line.
For this purpose, they are looking to bring in a new player for the left wing, and have been linked very closely with the Athletic Club winger Nico Williams. In fact, reports indicate that they have already reached a personal agreement with the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are also being linked with some other high-profile names for this position. One of these players is the Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the English winger recently appeared in an interview and once again praised the Barcelona star Lamine Yamal. The Englishman was very clear about his desire to play with the Blaugrana forward:
“Of course, I’d like to play with Lamine Yamal. Everyone wants to play with the best, so hopefully, we’ll see.”
Rashford went on to praise Yamal and highlighted his good performances at a very young age:
“It’s hard to describe in words what he’s doing, because he shouldn’t be doing this at 16 or 17 years old… He’s playing at the highest level at just 17; I don’t think we’ve seen anything like this before.”
The English winger was also quite clear that the Spanish forward deserves to win the Ballon d’Or:
“If we’re voting for the best player in the world, Lamine Yamal. If we’re voting for the Champions League winner, Dembélé.”
Lastly, the English winger also expressed his openness to playing in Spain:
“Spain is a beautiful place, and it’s not very far from home. If I train here for a long time, it’s great because my family can come visit me for a few days; it’s only a three-hour flight. Plus, the weather is nice.”
Marcus Rashford had not ruled out a move to Barcelona when the interviewers mentioned it, but for now, it seems that Nico Williams is the favorite candidate for the Blaugranes, and the Englishman’s chances of coming to the Catalan club this summer are quite slim.
