Fabio Capello believes that now the Serie A title race has come down to a two-team battle between Inter Milan and Napoli.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach gave his thoughts in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He argued only Inter can push Napoli all the way.

The Serie A title race this season has seemingly seen teams drop out one by one.

Juventus had looked to be early contenders, but have fallen behind. Meanwhile, AC Milan have had a season of highs and lows, and never had the consistent form to push at the top.

The likes of Fiorentina and Lazio have, at times, gotten themselves close to the summit of the table. But their own form has not been sufficient to remain there.

And then Atalanta have also looked formidable enough to push league leaders Napoli and reigning champions League.

For that reason, yesterday’s Serie A match between La Dea and the Partenopei had the feel of a truly decisive match for the Serie A title.

It was a five-goal thriller in the end. And one which went the way of Napoli. Now, the Campanian team find themselves in a commanding position at the summit of the Serie A table.

Capello: “Serie A Title Race Now A Two-Horse Race Between Inter & Napoli”

Capello writes that “Saturday was very important in Serie A, both for the title race and the fight for Champions League qualification.”

“Napoli’s win away to Atalanta transforms the title race into a two-horse race,” he argued.

“It’s not just a matter of points in the table. I also believe that yesterday’s match in Bergomi told us one thing.”

That is that “Inter are the only team with the strength to keep pace with Conte’s men.”

“They’ve really raised the level,” Capello writes of Napoli.

“I was a big fan of the personality that Napoli showed,” the former coach continued. “The freshness and determination.”

“But the word that describes Napoli’s success above all is humility,” Capello argues.
