Ex-Barcelona defender Cancelo hails Real Madrid star after CWC clash: ‘One of the best in the world’ | OneFootball

Former Barcelona defender João Cancelo has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr.

This comes after the Portuguese was tasked with marking Vinícius during a Club World Cup clash on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid got their campaign at the Club World Cup up and running yesterday evening, locking horns with Saudi outfit Al-Hilal in Miami.

When all was said and done, the spoils were shared between the sides, in a 1-1 draw.

The aforementioned Cancelo, meanwhile, was tasked with keeping tabs on Vinícius throughout, from his berth at right-back.

And the Brazilian, evidently, made a strong impression on the ex-Barcelona full-back.

Drawn on Vinícius’ abilities following the full-time whistle at the Hard Rock Stadium, Cancelo was full of praise, in explaining:

“Vini Jr? He’s very hard to play against. He’s very fast and unpredictable. It’s always a pleasure to play against the best players in the world.”
