Goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved Inter Milan from an even worse result in yesterday’s Serie A draw against Bologna.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They hail the 36-year-old former Bayern Munich keeper’s heroics in goal.

Inter had to settle for a point against Bologna yesterday.

This was certainly a damaging result as far as the Nerazzurri’s title defense goes. They failed to move to within a point of Napoli at the top of the table with a game in hand,

But a loss certainly would have been even worse. It would have really given the Partenopei – as well as Atalanta – the initiative.

Inter went behind relatively early on in yesterday’s match.

But the Nerazzurri could have conceded even earlier. It was Bologna midfielder Nikola Moro who stung the gloves of Inter keeper Sommer in the opening minutes.

But the Swiss keeper was equal to the Croat’s shot.

Similarly, Sommer showed his shot-stopping prowess to keep out efforts from the likes of Jens Odgaard and Riccardo Orsolini.

Then on the other hand, there’s little Sommer could have done on goals from Santiago Castro and Emil Holm.

The 36-year-old had no time to react to Castro’s effort. And Holm’s was simply too accurate and powerful for Sommer to get to in time.
