Yann Sommer says that Inter Milan “want to go all the way” ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich.
The 36-year-old, formerly of Bayern, spoke in a press conference ahead of the quarterfinal first leg, as reported by FCInterNews.
Inter Milan take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League tomorrow.
And both teams will be well aware that it promises to be a pivotal match for their respective seasons.
For the Nerazzurri, it is not the only match that they have on their mind, however.
Inter are also still fighting for the Serie A table. They currently top the league table, although Napoli could cut their lead to just a point this evening if they beat Bologna.
Meanwhile, Inter have the second leg of a Coppa Italia semifinal tie against city rivals AC Milan later this month.

Inter Milan keeper Yann Sommer gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s match. “Tomorrow is very important for us,” he said.
“They press high, aggressively.”
The Swiss called Bayern “a strong team.”
“And for us, it’s important to play our game. Play with the ball, with courage, as we always do, with the aim of winning.”
Meanwhile, Sommer spent half a season as a Bayern player. And he admitted that “it’s nice to be here and to return.”
“I’m happy to play for Inter against Bayern,” he said. “And I’m happy to be at Inter today.”
Then, Sommer reacted to Saturday’s Serie A draw with Parma. “We’re not happy with it,” he said.
“Tomorrow will also be a tough match. And even against Udinese we had moments where it was too easy for the opposition to create chances.”
“We’re a team that are very strong defensively when we have energy,” Sommer made clear. “We hold our positions.”
“And that’s what we have to show on the pitch.”
As far as the discrepancy between Inter’s Serie A and Champions League defensive record, Sommer admitted that “it’s always hard to explain.”
“Our goal is to make it difficult for the opposition to score,” he added.
“Normally we’ve managed to do it. A bit better in the Champions League this season.”
“But there are a lot of matches that we have to play,” the Swiss noted. “Every three days.”
“It’s normal that we’re not always going to be at our best.”
“But we’re Inter,” said the keeper. “We have to get through this.”
“We always want to win and go all the way in all competitions,” Sommer made clear.
He added that “we have to play a great match.”
“We have to play with courage, and stay together.”
Yann Sommer emphasized the need for Inter to “keep the distances between the lines, and then we’ll see what kind of match we have.”
And the Swiss commented that he had “a great time” playing for Bayern.
“We won the Bundesliga. It was a great time, and an intense time, and we were successful.”
He added that “I can’t wait to see my old teammates again.”
