Leicester City's ideal Steve Cooper replacement has been named. It's believed they would prefer to appoint a former Chelsea boss.
In a club statement, Leicester City claimed that they would like to appoint a new manager as soon as possible. This is because not only did Steve Cooper leave the club, Alan Tate and Steve Rands also left the club at the same time. Therefore, a new appointment is more than necessary.
However, it is still up in the air who Leicester will sign. There are many names doing the rounds, as it stands. The truth is, Leicester fans will only know their new manager once it is confirmed.
That said, a pretty good guess has been made. The English media has named the likeliest Steve Cooper replacement.
According to The Telegraph, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is the likeliest candidate to replace Steve Cooper at Leicester City at this stage. Alongside Potter, David Moyes and Ruud van Nistelrooy are candidates.
Graham Potter has exceptional experience in the Premier League. He managed Brighton and Hove Albion between 2019-2022. He did so well in charge of the Seagulls, that he went onto manage Chelsea between 2022-2023.
Graham Potter did not do well in charge of Chelsea. However, it was hardly his fault. You have to be a certain character to achieve at Chelsea - One who will roll over and accept a lack of responsibility, under a completely clueless ownership. Potter is a proud manager, so it didn't work out for him there.
As for David Moyes, he has even better experience in the Premier League. Arguably, he would be better equipped to deal with Leicester's current situation, given his relegation-survival experience.
However, the difference between Potter and Moyes is their age. Considering Potter is the favourite, this is likely because Leicester would prefer a long-term manager at the helm.
Of the three options, Ruud van Nistelrooy would be the biggest risk. Leicester have already been warned about hiring the former Man United striker, due to his unknown nature.
