Manchester United could move for ex-Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville in a £30m deal if Marcus Rashford is offloaded, The Guardian reports, potentially reuniting him with new signing Karl Darlow.

Darlow’s switch to Old Trafford was confirmed earlier this week, the 35-year-old leaving Elland Road at the end of his contract to join on a free.

United are planning to sell Rashford after an uneasy spell that included loans to Aston Villa and Barcelona, although his wages complicate any exit. Should he depart, Michael Carrick’s side could pursue Summerville, with relegated West Ham open to a sale.

Summerville, 24, registered seven goals and three assists in all competitions for West Ham last season but could not prevent relegation. Their fate was sealed on the final day despite a 3-0 win over already-safe Leeds, before he went to the World Cup with the Netherlands and produced two goals and two assists in four appearances.

Darlow and Summerville spent one season together at Leeds after the goalkeeper arrived for a six-figure fee in 2023 following relegation to the Championship. He was back-up to Illan Meslier while the Dutch winger excelled.

Summerville hit 20 goals and nine assists, earning the Championship Player of the Year award, but Leeds lost to Southampton at Wembley in the play-offs. He joined West Ham that summer for £28m.

The winger impressed at the London Stadium and a move was expected once relegation was confirmed. If a £30m switch materialises, West Ham would make only a £2m profit.
