Sunderland Echo reports that the 35-year-old is the Lions' seventh signing for 2026-27.

Batth has played more than 500 senior games since starting out at Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club he joined aged 10, later captained and helped to League One and Championship titles.

His career has also taken in Colchester United, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Stoke City, before moving to Sunderland in January 2022. He played a key part as they went up via the play-offs under Neil.

He stayed influential on their Championship return, winning Sunderland’s Player of the Year in 2022-23, then left for Norwich City in September 2023 before spending the following season with Blackburn Rovers.

Batth joined Derby on a one-year contract last summer, made 12 appearances, and discussed an extension after the campaign, but chose Millwall instead.

Millwall director of football Steve Gallen said the defender’s experience, leadership and attitude will strengthen the squad and increase competition at centre-back. He added that the move enables Kamarl Grant to go on loan for valuable league experience.

He adds another seasoned Championship option as Millwall continue preparing for the new season.
