EXCL: Why Rangers REALLY sacked Kevin Thelwell | OneFootball

So you’re probably wondering why Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart were fired. Or you already think you know, and it’s because they were toxic. Or because of Youssef Chermiti.

You’re not completely wrong, but it’s really simple and simpler than you realise.

Sources have told Ibrox Noise it’s the simple question of two things which Americans obsess over. 1: success. 2: money.

Two is probably the most important – Americans are capitalistic, always have been. Money matters. Wall Street, greed, you name it. America.

Now Kevin Thelwell confirmed a net spend of £20M, boastfully indeed. Now given Rangers had sold around £25M (admittedly impressive) but spent a reported £35M, this suggested strongly that the reports were wrong.

Ibrox Noise covered this already. Thelwell effectively announced Rangers spent a stonking £45M this summer. Net spend £20M, sales £25M. You do the maths.

And that means that while technically the spend of net was only £20M, it doesn’t really matter. Just because you receive £11M for Hamza Igamane, doesn’t mean Youssef Chermiti is now free.

That £11M is still your money, and you have now spent your money on Chermiti.

And that’s where the basic point is – Rangers spunked £45M this summer on a bag of absolute garbage.

Rangers spent the highest any Scottish club ever has in history in one window and ended up with Thelo Aasgaard, Youssef Chermiti and Manny Fernandez.

That alone, to capitalistic American owners is a sackable offence. Do NOT waste their money, especially a lot of it.

And Thelwell did.

He wasted £45M of the 49ers and Cavenagh’s money on utter crap – he put garbage into their investment and Rangers sit borderline midtable having already shed money on sacking Russell Martin.

But for now the flack is on Thelwell.

He’s wasted £45M of the 49ers cash and Rangers languish from it. That is a mess. And Cavenagh is leading the clean up crew.
