The Yorkshire outfit sit in sixth place after their opening eight matches, tasting five victories and three defeats, although the 42-year-old will be disappointed with back-to-back losses on the road at Barnsley, and most recently, Bradford.

Regardless of the struggles on their travels, Huddersfield still sit just two points off the summit, which is currently held by Cardiff City, but the Bluebirds, along with Barnsley and Stevenage in the promotion mix, have a game in hand and could extend their tallies.

Regardless, Huddersfield are firmly in the conversation for promotion back to the Championship, and there will be hope that the former Derby County and Manchester United goalkeeper can find some solutions and get the club on an extended run of good form.

It was always going to be a gamble taking on a coach who is underway in his first-ever managerial stint, but overall, it has been a positive opening month.

With this in mind, Lee Hendrie has spoken to Football League World about Lee Grant’s start to life at Huddersfield and whether owner Kevin Nagle deserves credit over such a bold appointment.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, ex-Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle deserves “credit” for the bold appointment of Lee Grant and seeing the club undergo a positive beginning to his tenure.

Hendrie told FLW: “I do think any decision that connects your football club, particularly when the previous season didn’t go to plan, brings its risks.

“They’ve certainly invested in bringing better players in to give themselves a chance this season, so yes, you have to give credit for that gamble because it does lie on you when you’re making the decisions.

“I wouldn’t say it is such a gamble (appointing Grant). They’ve looked into the background and at all sorts of things for bringing head coaches or managers in, and they like what he’s presented them with, and they’ve got off to a decent start.

“Chairman and owners get the deserved plaudits when they bring managers in. There’s a long season still ahead, but it’s the start that they wanted and surely the start Kevin Nagle would have liked.”

Huddersfield Town can improve, but it’s been a positive start under Lee Grant in League One

Huddersfield Town had made a brilliant start to life under Lee Grant by winning four out of their opening five games – keeping four clean sheets in the process.

But a dip in results has taken the gloss off the opening positivity, with their away form the potential underdoing of any promotion push forming this season.

They must address this concern immediately and get their performances on the road to a similar level as they have done at home, with the Terriers making the Accu Stadium a fortress so far this campaign.

If the away form can be rectified, then there’s every chance Huddersfield put enough points on the board to secure automatic promotion.
