Chelsea are targeting two young English midfielders as the Blues look to upgrade their options this summer.

Our writer Simon Phillips is on quite the tear on Substack. He’s just dropped another update on Chelsea’s summer transfer situation where he talks about two players we’re being heavily linked to: Alex Scott and Adam Wharton.

The two English midfielders just had great seasons with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively, and are both being linked with moves to bigger clubs.

Phillips source mentioned both as players the Blues are interested in, with “very prominent” links.

Chelsea look to English pair for potential midfield upgrades

“Chelsea believe Scott in particular is underrated by some, and is unfortunate not to be an England international yet,” Phillips writes.

“Our source have also raved about how good Scott is.”

Earlier today it was reported that the Cherries are going to offer their rising star a new contract, while Palace will also do all they can to keep hold of Wharton. In either case, it’s going to be an expensive operation for the Blues.

As so much else this summer, it all hinges on the future of Enzo Fernandez to some extent.

Chelsea are getting tied closer and closer to interest in Real Madrid players as they try to figure out a way to sell Enzo Fernandez for a reasonable price.

Romeo Lavia is being lined up by other clubs, and while we’re sure Chelsea would love to sell, it may prove more difficult than that.
