While we already know the bulk of the Lazio starting lineup that will take on Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final, Maurizio Sarri is still facing a conundrum in midfield.

Lazio & Inter Milan Preparing for Coppa Italia Final

On Wednesday, the two clubs will meet at the Stadio Olimpico once again, just four days following their Serie A clash, which ended with a resounding Nerazzurri victory. Nevertheless, the Aquile are expected to enter their most decisive match of the season with a different attitude and different personnel.

The Backline

The semi-final’s ultimate hero, Edoardo Motta, is the only choice between the posts. Ahead of him, Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli will combine again, dropping Oliver Provstgaard to the bench.

After resting on Saturday, Nuno Tavares will regain his starting role at Luca Pellegrini’s expense. Meanwhile, Adam Marusic remains Sarri’s favorite option at right-back, so Manuel Lazzari will start on the bench.

Three Options for the Regista Role

While Toma Basic and Kenneth Taylor are the undisputed choices for the box-to-box roles, Sarri has three players vying for the deep-lying playmaker position, but none of them is in ideal condition.

Nicolo Rovella has only recently returned from a long layoff, and doesn’t offer enough defensive cover for Sarri’s liking, especially against Inter’s speedy attacks. Danilo Cataldi missed the last few weeks of action with a muscle problem. Although he returned to training this week, he remains far from his normal athletic condition.

Finally, Patric picked up a slight knock at the weekend, but he’s expected to shake it off in time. The Spaniard, despite being a defender by trade, is considered the favorite according to most sources, including La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Mattia Zaccagni Back in Lazio Lineup

Tijjani Noslin is expected to spearhead the lineup, getting the nod ahead of Boulaye Dia and Daniel Maldini. On the left wing, Mattia Zaccagni will make a timely return to action, thus dropping Pedro to the bench. The Spanish veteran is also not 100%. Finally, Gustav Isaksen is the favorite to start ahead of Matteo Cancellieri on the right flank.
