Paul Higham may have found an 11/5 value bet for Man City to hammer Salford, while also backing a big win for Burnley and a 5/2 stalemate when Newcastle visit Villa Park.

  • Back fast start for Man City and big win for Burnley
  • Villa v Newcastle a good bet to go to extra-time
  • Reds can pip Brighton at Anfield

Burton Albion v West Ham12:15 kick-offLive on TNT Sports 1 & Dscovery+

West Ham have the FA Cup to thank for their huge turnaround in form - winless in 10 before beating QPR in extra-time in the last round, then just one defeat in five since, including three wins and only a crazy Chelsea comeback and 96th-minute Man Utd equaliser away from being perfect.

Burton's win at Borehamd Wood in the last round was one of just two in 10, so they won't be holding out much hope even if Nuno makes changes, which he will given the Hammers are still deep in relegation trouble. But they have momentum and should win handily enough, but don't expect them to be perfect at the back against the FA Cup's top scorers.

Burnley v Mansfield15:00 kick-off

Mansfield's recent form is mad - five straight wins followed by four draws and a defeat last time, which as the odds suggest will likely be two in a row after facing Burnely, who they haven't beaten in 12 games. The Clarets usually take care of business at home too with three straight wins in the FA Cup and eight from 10 against sides outside the top two leagues.

Scott Parker could do with a win here and he'll hope that a good display could possibly give his side a similar boost to West Ham in the last round. Mansfield won 4-3 at Sheff Utd in the third round so will come to play, which sets up nicely for Burnley who could score a few goals in a game that could be a lot better than some expect.

Man City v Salford15:00 kick-off

This game is right up Man City's street, as they've won 20 straight FA Cup ties against non-Premier League sides, scoring 82 goals, while at home they've won 11 of them on the spin by a combined 59-5 - including Exeter 10-1 in the last round and Salford 8-0 last season. Salford are making their fourth round debut but have lost their three games against Premier League sides 15-0 altogether.

With such big favourites here goals and goalscorers are prohibitive prices, especially without knowing the starting XI, so value only really comes with backing Salford to score in a City win at 7/4 but I'm not sure they'll manage it. Instead I'll go for City to do what they do so often and that's come out firing against lesser sides - they were 4-0 up at half-time against Exeter and 3-0 up at the break on Salford's visit last season.

Norwich v West Brom15:00 kick-off

A couple of bottom-half sides in the Championship clash at Carrow Road but they are in very different form, with Norwich winning five of six to power away from trouble while West Brom are winless in six and have slid into bother. The Baggies have also scored just three goals in that time and failed to net in their last three.

The Baggies did win their last visit to Carrow Road earlier this season, but that was avenged in style with a thumping 5-0 Canaries win at the Hawthorns just over three weeks ago, showing just how times have changed for these sides. I like taking the 13/10 just on a Norwich win - even if team changes are made they're very much the side in form here - but given West Brom's struggles in front of goal you can't help but back them to draw a blank again.

Port Vale v Bristol City15:00 kick-off

This is a first meeting between these two sides for 11 years and their first ever FA Cup tie, so not much recent form to go on, although history shows Bristol City have won eight of the past nine against Port Vale and are odds-on to win again against the side languishing bottom of League One.

The Robins have five wins in six FA Cup ties against lower division opponents and eight in their past 10 such games away from home. They put Watford to the sword in the last round and after a few tough league fixtures recently this should be a bit more comfortable against the lowest scorers in League One.

Southampton v Leicester15:00 kick-off

A quick rematch of an instant classic here as these two sides meet again just four days after a frankly ridiculous 4-3 Southampton win at the King Power, after Leicester went in 3-0 up at half-time but conceded in the 87th and 96th minute to make if four defeats in a row. It was a third win in a row for Saints and fourth in five.

St Mary's will host this time and the Foxes will be desperate to exact revenge, but the odds suggest it'll be tough as Saints have only lost one of the past nine at home and only three times all season. They beat Leicester 3-0 here in November in the last away games the Foxes failed to score in, so we'll at least back them to find the net if not

Aston Villa v Newcastle17:45 kick-offLive on BBC One & TNT Sports 3

OK, so it was only Tottenham but that was a big away win for Newcastle in midweek after a tough spell, and ahead of a long Champions League journey to Azerbaijan for the first game of a two-legged play-off with Qarabag either side of the trip to the Etihad. For these reasons, you wonder what side Eddie Howe will put out here.

I think Villa have this as more of a priority and Unai Emery's side have a week off after this tie so can go stronger, while Newcastle have lost 10 of the past 13 FA Cup ties away at Premier League opponents, failing to score in eight of nine, and their away form generally this season has been poor. But they'll be tough to break down and Villa have just lacked a little juice recently, so I think this one will go the distance, with extra-time or even penalties required.

Liverpool v Brighton20:00 kick-offLive on TNT Sports 1 & Discovery+

This is Liverpool's only realistic chance of success this season as the Champions League seems like a longshot and even a top four finish will be a struggle, and they have already beaten Brighton at Anfield this season 2-0 - although the Seagulls had their fare share of chances in that one.

That was just the second time in 15 meetings that Brighton had failed to score against the Reds as there's usually bags of goals in this fixture - seven of the past 10 games have seen both teams score and eight of those had over 2.5 goals in them, with a further four going over 3.5.

I'm not sure we'll have that many but I'll back both sides to find the net. Brighton are well capable here if they come out and attack but that could help this Liverpool side - plus after winning at Man Utd in the last round doing the Old Trafford-Anfield double is a big ask for the Seagulls.
