This deal is now expected to wrap up quickly.
Germany international Wirtz has already made it clear that his preference is Liverpool - having rejected an offer from Bayern Munich.
Wirtz, a double winner with Leverkusen in 2023/24, was said to be convinced by Arne Slot's pitch to come to Anfield. He has reportedly pledged to build the team around Wirtz whereas he didn't get the same guarantees from Bayern.

And while a deal with Wirtz was relatively straightforward, the negotiations with Leverkusen proved slightly more difficult.
It was last week when it was claimed a first bid went in for Wirtz - one which was swiftly rejected by B04.
And on Friday night, a second bid went in with Liverpool hoping that an overall package of £113m would be enough to get the deal done.
But Leverkusen stuck to their guns, always valuing Wirtz at €150m (£126m) despite his contract expiring in just two years.
The overall deal will comprise an upfront fee as well as add-ons - reaching €150m in total.
