Liverpool are in need of wingers.

Mohamed Salah has left the club and Federico Chiesa is expected to follow soon after. There is a starting spot available on the right side of the Reds’ attack and it would be negligent to start the season with only Jeremie Frimpong as an option.

A move for Yan Diomande came to nothing with RB Leipzig rejecting Richard Hughes’ initial offer of up to €100m. Paris Saint-Germain are now in the driving seat for the young Ivorian should the Bundesliga side decide to do business.

Liverpool therefore will have to look elsewhere for signings.

Bradley Barcola is a Liverpool favourite

We’ve seen Said El Mala, Yankuba Minteh and Matias Fernandez-Pardo all linked with a potential move to Anfield. Despite having added Victor Munoz on a €40m deal from Osasuna there is a requirement to get another wide attacker in.

The favourite to arrive for a long time has been Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman, 23, is under contract at PSG until 2028 but has slipped down the pecking order.

Things will get worse for Barcola if Diomande joins - pushing him even further towards the margins.

Officially the European champions claim Barcola is NOT for sale and they even have designs on getting him to sign a new contract. Without guarantees over game time however that looks unlikely.

And sooner or later PSG will have to come to terms over what to do with Barcola - who joined from Lyon back in 2023. A transfer destiny at Arsenal has been proposed by Fabrizio Romano as the Gunners seek additions in the summer transfer market.

In a report on YouTube the Italian transfer expert confirmed the defending Premier League champions have got Barcola in mind - alongside Morgan Rogers.

Liverpool still right there for Barcola

There is a chance Mikel Arteta could move towards a deal for Barcola because of Aston Villa’s £130m asking price for the England man.

However the London side are sure to face competition from Liverpool. Even though several reports claim Barcola is off the market Romano says Liverpool REMAIN in the race.

“They also appreciate Barcola,” he says about Arsenal.

“But for Barcola there is Liverpool as well. So it's going to be an interesting wingers summer.”

Liverpool’s interest in Barcola is long-standing. And missing out on a key piece of the transfer jigsaw to Arsenal would be an incredibly frustrating blow for Richard Hughes.

Let’s hope this serves as a warning for the decision-makers at Anfield to stop dragging their feet and get a deal over the line for Barcola.
