One superstar who appears to be Liverpool's main target has made his preference clear according to Fabrizio Romano.

Things are really heating up right now on the transfer front. Even though the World Cup is still very much ongoing, business is being done by Premier League clubs.

We've seen Victor Munoz being signed by Liverpool, and there are other big transfers being negotiated by the likes of Tottenham and Manchester City.

Liverpool themselves are not taking a seat back. This is an important summer for Richard Hughes. Last summer, came with criticism and the Liverpool sporting director needs to restore his reputation, while there being a lot to do.

There's a new manager, coming in with a new style. Andoni Iraola is also going to need different profiles. But most importantly, Liverpool are going to need new players.

So many key superstars have departed already with Mo Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson leaving on a free transfer. Replacing those three alone is going to be a challenge, especially when at the same time Hughes will also need to add depth.

How he goes about his business could very much determine the future of the club. This summer is about building a dynasty at Anfield and building around the foundations Hughes had laid.

These foundations are evident for all to see. They've been established when Liverpool brought in Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz as the building blocks of the future.

Isak and Wirtz, alongside a new team with Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet is who Liverpool have rested their hopes on.

There will be others coming in. Liverpool's biggest question is how to replace Mo Salah. Finding a replacement for the Egyptian is not going to be easy.

He's been such an important figure for the Reds for so many years, and right now the right-winger market is bleak.

There are probably only two players who can live up to his hype and that's Lamine Yamal and Michael Olise. Neither will want to move to Liverpool, nor will there clubs entertain a move to Anfield.

And let's be honest, even if they did, the overall package of such a deal adding in bonuses, agent fees and wages as well as the transfer fee would be well beyond Liverpool's current reach.

It's why Liverpool are having to search for alternative options.

And it's why they are going for potential over the final product. Because if you can't get Olise or Yamal, the next best thing you can do is to find the next one.

That is who Yan Diomande is. Liverpool have made it clear it is the Ivorian they want because of his mercurial talent. Diomande excels in one vs one situations, he is super fast and among the best right-wingers on the planet.

He's not quite in the Olise or Yamal tier yet but he is pretty close to it. A recent statistic that claimed Diomande was the first person since Lionel Messi to complete over eight dribbles at a World Cup as a teenager demonstrates just how good we is.

Recently, we've heard a lot about why Liverpool want Diomande but we've not heard much about his own stance.

Well, Fabrizio Romano may have just given it away. He posted on X, that Diomande prefers to leave RB Leipzig now, even though his club want to keep him for another year.

It's the first time Romano has gone as far as to suggest Diomande is not only open to a move to Liverpool but would prefer it, over staying in Leipzig.

That's a huge development. It sounds as though Diomande has made his mind-up.
