FC Barcelona have cooled their interest in Eli Junior Kroupi, with the club no longer advancing negotiations for the highly-rated Bournemouth striker.

The French forward had recently emerged as one of the names linked with Barca as the club continued exploring long-term attacking options, but the situation has now taken a different turn.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are not proceeding with talks to sign Kroupi at this stage. The transfer insider also revealed that Bournemouth have made their position clear to interested clubs, insisting they have no intention of selling the striker this summer.

Kroupi has attracted attention following an impressive breakthrough campaign, but Bournemouth are determined to keep one of their brightest young talents.

The Premier League club’s stance leaves little room for negotiations, making any immediate move impossible regardless of Barcelona’s interest.

For Barcelona, that effectively removes another name from the list of realistic striker targets this summer.

Barcelona are right to move on

There is no question that Kroupi is an exciting prospect with the potential to become one of Europe’s top forwards.

However, pursuing a player whose club has no intention of negotiating would only waste valuable time during a crucial stage of the transfer window.

Deco and the sporting department have shown a greater willingness in recent months to walk away from deals that do not make financial or sporting sense, rather than becoming involved in long and expensive transfer sagas.

That approach is especially important as Barcelona continue searching for the right long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The club need a striker who is both attainable and fits Flick’s project.

Kroupi may remain a player Barcelona admire, but admiration alone does not complete transfers. With Bournemouth refusing to sell and Barca no longer pushing ahead, attention is now likely to shift toward more realistic options before the window closes.
