Juventus have reached a verbal agreement to sign Canadian forward and Manchester United target Jonathan David, according to multiple reports.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal, stating that all terms have been agreed with the 25 year old, who is now expected in Turin for medical tests ahead of signing a long-term contract.
The agreement was echoed by Gianluca Di Marzio, who added that the Bianconeri secured David’s approval in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Final paperwork and standard formalities remain, but the deal is now considered effectively complete.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus would pursue a new number nine regardless of whether Dusan Vlahović is sold.
The club’s failure to offload him has not deterred their ambitions in the forward line, with David now set to arrive as part of a wider attacking revamp.
David had a mixed end to the summer, scoring and converting a penalty for Canada before they were eliminated by Guatemala in the Gold Cup quarter-finals.
The early exit left him free to accelerate talks with Juve, who prioritised him as part of a broader attacking overhaul.
That process appears far from over. Juventus still intend to pursue Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who is another name that has reportedly been on Man United’s radar this summer. Although the €75 million price tag could prove to be a hindrance.
Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that signing David would give the club more leverage in negotiations with PSG over extending Kolo Muani’s loan. The French forward is not part of Luis Enrique’s plans, and Juventus see an opportunity to negotiate favourable terms.
United may view Juventus’ approach as a contrast to their own situation.
While the Red Devils continue to assess options behind Rasmus Højlund and await clarity on financial leeway under INEOS, Juventus have acted decisively, even without resolving outgoing transfers first.
