Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive has hit another gear with the imminent arrival of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old Hungarian is set to travel to Merseyside on Tuesday next week for his medical and contract signing. Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, Romano confirmed:
“Tuesday next week from what I understand should be the day for Milos Kerkez to travel to Liverpool for medical test and contract signing… So, it is all set. The player only wants Liverpool.”
It’s a significant signal of intent from the Anfield hierarchy, who’ve moved swiftly to secure the services of a player who has been on their radar for some time.
Kerkez enjoyed a stellar breakout season with Bournemouth, having joined the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar for approximately £15.5 million in July 2023. The Hungarian international went on to start all 38 Premier League matches in the 2024/25 season, delivering six goals and two assists from left-back. His relentless energy and dual-threat capability made him one of the most impressive young full-backs in the division.
His performances helped Andoni Iraola’s side finish 13th in the table, with Kerkez’s drive and tactical versatility standing out. It’s no wonder Liverpool were willing to return with a firm offer after Bournemouth initially held out for £45 million+.
David Ornstein first reported that Liverpool had reached a full agreement with Bournemouth for the transfer. The Reds persisted with negotiations despite Bournemouth’s tough stance and have now agreed a fee that will see the south coast club bank a solid profit on their initial outlay for the Hungarian.
With Kerkez now primed to sign a five-year contract, his move appears just days away from official confirmation.
This move underscores Liverpool’s commitment to refreshing key areas of their squad with young, high-upside talent. At just 21, Kerkez fits perfectly into Arne Slot’s vision for an energetic and aggressive style of play. He brings European experience, Premier League sharpness, and the kind of technical and physical profile Liverpool fans will be eager to see thrive under Arne Slot.
From a fan’s perspective, this signing ticks several crucial boxes. First, it addresses depth at left-back—a persistent concern whenever Robertson has struggled for fitness, and the potential exit of the Scottish legend. Second, it shows Liverpool are learning from the past by investing in youth with proven top-flight experience. Kerkez has played a two Premier League seasons, delivering goals and assists, and doing so in a mid-table side where he had to both defend doggedly and push high up the pitch. That bodes well for life at Anfield.
His attacking return of six goals is eyebrow-raising for a defender, especially at 21. If he can replicate even half of that output under Slot, he could become one of the standout full-backs in the league.
Fans will also love hearing that “the player only wants Liverpool”. That kind of commitment, combined with elite potential, feels like the early signs of another savvy transfer. With the medical scheduled and paperwork imminent, supporters should be braced for a quick announcement.
It may not be the headline name of the window, but Milos Kerkez could be one of its smartest buys.
