Manchester United have had a dismal Premier League campaign. They suffered their 10th defeat of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford last weekend.

Manager Ruben Amorim was reportedly furious in the dressing room after the game. The Portuguese tactician may want one or two signings before the winter transfer deadline.

The Red Devils have already established contact with Lecce for left-back Patrick Dorgu. Fabrizio Romano reports that a formal bid worth £23 million plus add-ons was made last night.

However, the Serie A outfit are looking for £34m for the Danish star amid fresh interest from Napoli.

Dorgu is reportedly keen on moving to United, and ‘more contacts are expected’ between the clubs.

United need to act quickly amid Napoli interest

The Red Devils have had concerns in the left wing-back department this term. Diogo Dalot has been the regular in the role under Amorim but has struggled with his positioning.

The Portuguese was one of the club’s best players last term, but has failed to impress out of position. He has been defensively vulnerable and has not provided an attacking outlet.

Dorgu would be perfect to replace him. The 20-year-old started his career at Lecce as a left-back, but he has primarily played as a right winger for the Italian outfit this campaign.

The youngster has four goal contributions this term. He has excelled defensively with 6.8 duels and two tackles won per league game alongside 4.7 recoveries and 1.8 clearances.

Lecce want to secure a premium fee for his huge potential. United need to act quickly with an improved offer as Napoli could make a more favourable proposal for his services.

The Naples outfit are willing to allow Dorgu to stay at Lecce on loan for the rest of the season. If United haggle over the price, Napoli could gain the advantage in the pursuit.
