PSG looked to be in pole position to sign Franco Mastantuono, one of South America’s most promising young talents, heading into the summer transfer window. But it’s Real Madrid that ultimately surged ahead to win the race.
On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Mastantuono has chosen to join Real Madrid. The Argentine teenager sees the move as a dream opportunity, and personal terms have already been agreed. All parties involved have been notified.
With the player now committed, Madrid plan to negotiate directly with River Plate over a transfer fee, hoping to avoid triggering his release clause. PSG are still keeping a close eye on the situation.

On Friday, Romano reported that Real Madrid’s Juni Calafat is set to return to Spain on Friday after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Mastantuono. A long-term deal is already in place, and the club is now working to finalize an agreement with River Plate, with a structure expected to differ from the release clause.
Mastantuono was particularly impressed by his conversation with Xabi Alonso, which played a key role in his decision.
This week, Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Real Madrid are now in direct talks with Mastantuono. The Spanish ramped up their interest to not lose the young Argentine to PSG.
Juni Calafat is in Buenos Aires negotiating with both the player and River Plate, and Mastantuono is open to the move. José Ángel Sánchez is pushing to get the deal done in time for the Club World Cup.
