Manchester City and Liverpool are showing strong interest in Xavi Simons, and any potential transfer could benefit PSG. Although PSG loaned Simons to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 and sold him this year, the French club still stands to profit from his next move.
As part of the transfer, PSG put in a sell-on clause that could earn them money beyond the initial fee. According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United might have the upper hand over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Leipzig paid a total of €80 million—€55 million up front and the rest in add-ons. Simons is contracted through June 2027, but with several top clubs interested, his long-term future remains uncertain.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Simons has made his decision and is set to leave RB Leipzig this summer. He’s reportedly ready for a new chapter, with top Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich closely monitoring his situation. Moreover, RB Leipzig are fully aware of his plans.
This week, GIVE ME SPORT reported, citing sources, that RB Leipzig are willing to sell Xavi Simons when the transfer window reopens, and the player has expressed a strong desire to make his first Premier League move.
The outlet also claims Leipzig is open to a major sale after missing out on Champions League revenue. This could allow Manchester City to sign Simons, who is seen as an alternative to Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
GIVE ME SPORT further notes that Manchester City has learned that Simons carries a £60 million price tag. However, they’ve been long-time admirers, having tracked him for the past year. They’re now considering whether to enter negotiations, especially with concerns that Wirtz might opt to join Bayern Munich.
