Clashes broke out between rival supporters in central Saint-Priest shortly after eight pm, near the Château de Saint-Priest. According to Le Progres, the trouble followed the Saint-Priest v Nîmes match on Saturday 21 March.
AS Saint-Priest had been beaten by Nîmes Olympique, and tensions spilled into the city centre. Police were escorting the visiting supporters.

Around 10 minutes after full time, as Nîmes fans headed to their bus, more than 50 masked individuals were waiting. Several minutes of confrontations followed before officers contained the situation.
Police deployed measures to halt the clashes, bringing the area under control.
Once calm returned, the Nîmes contingent was escorted to the motorway to prevent further incidents.
No injuries were reported.
