The significant funds were generated over the past 12 months through a variety of supporter initiatives, including a £5 donation from every official adidas season 25/26 home, away, and third shirt sold in August 2025. This initiative was developed in consultation with the club's Fan Advisory Board.
The funds will directly support popular Foundation programmes, including Football Talks, 12th Man, 12th Woman, and Walking Football. Be A Game Changer encourages fans to openly discuss mental health and access support through the Foundation's programmes and referrals to mental health services.
Newcastle United CEO David Hopkinson, commented: "The community in Newcastle and the football club is the same; the football club doesn't exist without our community and in turn I believe we have the power to uplift and inspire our city. It's not just about matchday, it's about how we show up in the community everyday and Newcastle United Foundation plays a key role in delivering this.
"We are putting effort into changing the stigma around talking about mental health and Newcastle United Foundation does an incredible job in supporting the health and wellbeing of people across the region. Backed by the generous donations of fans, Be A Game Changer will provide a valuable resource to tackle mental health, one of the North East's biggest challenges."
Steve Beharall, Newcastle United Foundation CEO, added: "Our club unites us in our city and by using football to connect people and start conversations, we are encouraging all fans to check in on the wellbeing of others and to consider what support they themselves could benefit from.
"Be A Game Changer is our commitment to supporting everyone towards better mental health through our programmes shaped by our community through their generosity and support.
"For every £1 the Foundation receives, 98p is invested directly into charitable activities, stretching each pound as far as possible to create positive change in Newcastle and across the North East.
"Fans united by our club allow our charity to continue to inspire and support those in need with free sessions and services for all."
Further donations to Newcastle United Foundation throughout last season have been made by supporters purchasing stadium tours, home and away match tickets and memberships, season ticket renewals and while enjoying matchdays at St. James' STACK.
A minimum of £1 from every standard ticket sold at Newcastle United Women's record-breaking Tyne-Wear derby win in March also generated a significant contribution, with many supporters choosing to donate more.
Newcastle United Foundation's Be A Game Changer campaign is also funded by Newcastle City Council. The charity's wider Health and Wellbeing programmes are also supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers' Association. Administered through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.
