Daniel Farke says he hopes Gabriel Gudmundsson will not be sidelined for much longer with his adductor injury.

The Leeds defender was absent from his side’s 1-1 draw with Everton but Farke says the injury looks not as bad as was first feared.

“Sadly he’s got a little strain on his adductor,” the Leeds boss said.

“He was always going to miss this game. We hope to have him back as quick as possible, it depends on further assessment.

“The initial assessment was not great. The tests said perhaps three to four weeks but right now it looks a bit brighter, we had a second opinion.

“I hope to have him back as quickly as possible so that he at maximum misses one or two games but not more because he’s obviously an important player for us, although I have to say James Justin today in this position was also excellent.”

Justin put Leeds ahead in the first half before Thierno Barry’s second-half equaliser but Farke was pleased with the point away from home.

“Overall, a really good result for us here on the road,” he said.

“The first half was outstanding, one of the best away performances we’ve shown. Very dominant and didn’t allow any chances.

“Everton are a top side, a well managed side, and have so much quality also on the bench to throw into it so it was clear at some point in the second half that they would show up.”
