Leeds United boss Daniel Farke says several players who will miss Leeds United’s last home game of the season against Brighton.
Leeds have secured safety in the Premier League, but have to deal with a less than ideal list of injuries.
On the team news, Farke said: “A bit tricky, we can do this with a smile because we have achieved our goal but not ideal, (Ilia) Gruev out for the season, (Noah) Okafor, (Gabriel) Gudmundsson, (Jayden) Bogle not available, (Pascal) Struijk not training.
“(Ethan) Ampadu struggling with illness so a major a doubt so a few question marks but of course we want to finish as strongly as possible. We need our supporters to carry us a little bit.”
On a positive note, however, now that Leeds know they are in the Premier League next season they can plan for the future.
Asked about his ambitions for next season, Farke said: “I am ambitious and this is quite important for me going forward, this is important going forward, I can give you my take on it and my feeling is that I am ambitious, attractive football perhaps for sides in the top half of the table but I love to be a manager who plays for something rather than to avoid something.
“I am not the right choice if it’s about maintaining the status quo, I have to be convinced of a project and I am at my best when I buy into a project. I can be picky and choose what I am convinced off. Everyone knows the Premier League is better with Leeds United in it.
“But the second thing is we have had one good season in the Premier League in the 25 years, the season with Marcelo (Bielsa), and we didn’t build on it, you have to develop and you have to evolve. This is what I stand for so it’s important that we speak internally together and very trustfully together.”
