FC Barcelona are finally back in action, this time in La Liga. For their next encounter, the Catalan giants will be facing off against Deportivo Alaves, a team that currently sits in 14th place in the league.
After their recent loss to Chelsea, this game will be a good opportunity for Hansi Flick’s side to bounce back. They really need a win here, especially if they realistically want to aim for a La Liga title charge this season, and the players will definitely be eager to get a good result.
For Hansi Flick and his team, this is a match that could allow them to return to the top spot in La Liga. Currently in second place, the Catalan giants will desperately be looking to get a win in this game and go two points clear at the top of the table temporarily.
This would be a great boost for the Catalans, and it would simultaneously allow them to apply pressure on Real Madrid. However, winning is easier said than done, considering that the team’s recent display against Chelsea was anything but reassuring.
In terms of form, La Blaugrana currently have three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five games. However, just after their convincing 4-0 victory over Athletic Club, the defeat to Chelsea truly trampled their hopes.
As for their goalscoring numbers, they have scored 14 goals in those five games and have conceded 9 goals in return. While it is a positive goal difference, it is a worryingly close one.
Their opponents, Deportivo Alaves, are possibly even worse off right now. With three losses and two wins in their last five games, they are a team that desperately needs some kind of momentum going their way.
In terms of their goalscoring numbers, they have scored 9 goals in those five games and have conceded 4 goals in return. A much healthier goal difference, but one that is mostly veiled by the fact that they scored seven in one game, where they beat CD Getxo 7-0 in the Copa del Rey.
However, with this game being at Spotify Camp Nou, FC Barcelona will be looking to hurt their opposition. They really need a win here, and Hansi Flick will likely do whatever it takes to ensure that.
