Four days later, the Munich Frauen were again victorious as they kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 5-2 win at home to Arsenal. Pernille Harder stole the show with a second-half hat-trick, after an earlier equaliser from captain Glódis Viggósdóttir and Sydney Lohmann’s effort to make it 2-1.

Bayern have won each of their last three Bundesliga games against Wolfsburg.

Opponent: Wolfsburg

The sides have already met once this season, with Bayern winning the inaugural Google Pixel Supercup 1-0 to kick off 2024/25 with another trophy. Wolfsburg began their league season with a draw and two wins before suffering their first defeat with a 3-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Tommy Stroot’s side bounced back last weekend to beat RB Leipzig 5-0 and take fourth place in the table.

The She-Wolves were then also in Champions League action during the week, losing 1-0 at Roma in their opening group fixture.

Team news

Bayern are still without Lena Oberdorf (cruciate ligament), Katharina Naschenweng (knee) and Franziska Kett (ankle). Magdalena Eriksson will also sit this one out again due to an injury, but captain Viggósdóttir is back after serving her domestic suspension for a red card.

Bayern and Alexander Straus want to extend their unbeaten Bundesliga run to 45 games.

Pre-match quotes

Alexander Straus: “We’re facing a great team in Wolfsburg who are playing at home and have shown in the past they can cause us problems. But still, we’re unbeaten in 44 games in the league and also put in a good display in the Champions League. We’ll prepare as best we can and do everything to win this game as well.”

Pernille Harder: “We’ve used the time after the Arsenal game to recover and turn our focus to Wolfsburg. The fact I’ve stayed free from injury of late has really helped me to find my level. I’ve only played once before in Wolfsburg with Bayern and am looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
