The Grenats have officially announced the departure of the two young African defenders at the end of their contracts.
Abou Lô
On Friday, July 4, FC Metz confirmed the departure of Abou Lô and Othmane Chraibi. Both defenders, having reached the end of their contracts, will not be continuing their journey with the Grenats.
Abou Lô and Othmane Chraibi are now free agents. Aboubacar Lô joined Metz in 2019 from Génération Foot and was loaned out twice—first to RFC Seraing in Belgium (2020-2021), then to SO Cholet in the National (2021-2022), where he netted six goals in 28 matches. Upon returning to Metz, he made 30 appearances over five years, including 16 last season in Ligue 2.
For Othmane Chraibi, the outcome is even tougher. Signed in 2022 and promoted to the professional squad in 2023, the Moroccan defensive midfielder never featured for the first team. He spent two consecutive seasons on loan at Berrichonne de Châteauroux (National 1). With Metz's reserve side, he played a handful of games, but it wasn't enough to earn a spot with the senior squad.
