It added that he returned in 2000/01 as goalkeeping coach during seasons when the club won a Champions League, a UEFA Cup, two Portuguese league titles, two Portuguese Cups and two Super Cups.

The statement highlighted his knowledge and technical competence, as well as loyalty, commitment and team spirit. He was respected by all who worked with him, remembered as an upright professional with firm values whose presence in dressing rooms and on the pitch will endure.

Villas-Boas said he learned of Silvino’s passing with profound sadness, recalling professional and personal moments they shared and describing him as gentle and kind, a colleague and a friend.

He added that he had recently said goodbye and still saw Silvino’s smile even as illness betrayed him, calling him a singular man, before offering sincere condolences to his family, children, wife and friends.
